Non-rigorous exercise or yoga are also and excellent sleep aid for more than a few people. Many individuals swear by the benefit of certain calming foods as well.

Just as is the case with training a baby to follow a regular sleep pattern, adults as well benefit from this training. Be sure to have a standard night time ritual before going to bed. Perhaps a warm bath, followed by a warm cup of milk or tea, quiet music, and sleep. It may sound simple to many, however, it is proven that people who follow a daily routine have greater success in getting a good night's sleep.

There are a variety of teas which have been a useful sleep aid to many people. Chamomile, green tea, and "sleepy time" teas are all excellent choices. Herbs, melatonin, and tryptophan are all claimed to be useful sleep aids. All of these natural remedies work with the bodies natural fundamentals in order to induce sleep. Melatonin is naturally released within the human body when it becomes dark. One way to increase this release is through the use of room darkening shades. These shades are useful for individuals who need complete darkness in order to fall asleep.

If you absolutely feel the need to use a sleeping pill, be sure to use it for the shortest time necessary. Make sure to discuss the sleep problem with your doctor. Remember, that sleep aids can be short term, and will have you on your way to getting a good night's sleep.
