Many things make up and influence plastic surgery cost for any single procedure. The primary factors that determine what a procedure will cost include but are not limited to the area of the body to be treated, the type of procedure, and the physical location of the surgeon. Parts of the body that are larger will demand higher costs to be treated for obvious reasons. The type of procedure to be performed and the technique determines what equipment might be necessary which will influence cost. The rates for each itemized charge are relative to the cosmetic surgery market of that geographical region.

Larger body areas will cost more than smaller areas. It might seem obvious but it is the effort and time required of the surgeon that patients are being charged.

Having multiple areas being worked on at one time will save money. Whenever possible, it is a good idea to combine multiple treatment areas into one session. This is to save on the preparation and setup of the surgical equipment and facility.

There are many different plastic surgery procedures and each one will differ in cost from another. The procedures can be grouped by likeness since similar procedures will be priced similarly and are usually based on the complication of the technique involved.

Major surgeries that require sedation of the patient will cost more than procedures where local anesthesia is administered. The anesthesia charge is a big item in the total cost of plastic surgery and the amount of the drug used is not free. Higher doses not only cost more for the solution but also because the administration will require a certified anesthesiologist.

The surgeon fee is the price most often quoted and advertised since it is consistently an item across every type of plastic surgery procedure. But the total cost of any procedure will include more than the surgeon fee because there is always charges for equipment and overhead items. There will be a facility fee which is usually the cost of the surgery room and it can range from 5 hundred to two thousand dollars. The cost of administering the numbing solution averages about $1000. Any specialized equipment or tools that the particular type of surgery requires will usually also be billed to the patient.
