Wait!

Remember the old photo booths they used to have in the discount stores? Remember how they work? You pop in the tiny booth, pull the curtain shut, and adjust the swivel stool to just the right height so that when you sit down your face reflects on the little screen about two feet in front of you. You push your coins into the slot, and then quickly sit up straight and smile.

The pictures would start and you'd have a few seconds to move into different positions or poses in between. Most of the would give you four pictures. After the photos are taken you step outside of the booth and wait for the photos to be printed. That wait was the hard part. Eventually the photos would be printed and dropped into a bin on the side.

It was always fun to get the photos taken, but waiting for the developed shots wasn't so much fun. It really didn't take that long, but it felt like forever.

There are times in my life when the pace is moving rapidly and I'm ready to take on something new. Then I feel that God is telling me to wait. I want to keep moving forward before I forget what I want to accomplish or before the opportunity passes by, but God wants things to move a little slower. That's not what I want because I just want to do things while I can.

Throughout my life I learned some hard lessons that in those times when God chooses to not answer my prayers right away in my own timing, I need to take the focus off of my agenda and simply focus on Him. This is when I know that He loves and cares for me and I trust that He will care for me in His timing as He knows what is best.

Because He is faithful, I can wait knowing that in His own time and His own way, He will accomplish what is good. Yes, He will come through for me. Because He is faithful, I can wait.

Father, when I'm inpatient and having a hard time waiting on you, please help me to realize that you are faithful and that you are completely in control.
