The passion for collecting rare teacups is simmering down to the point of rarity. You have boxes upon boxes of old toys that haven't been touched in years sitting up in the attic. The clutter in the kitchen is getting to be so overwhelming that you can't even sit down comfortably. The clothes in your closet have been there longer than your oldest child has been alive and you have a collection of designer clothes you've never worn.

With all this trouble and fighting for room, something has to be done. You could take the risk and hold a garage sale, hoping the right person will come along on that hot Saturday morning. However, even if you did find a potential buyer, they might try to barter down the price to the point where you'd be better off throwing the items in question away. A buyer may not even appreciate the value of your designer items and so they don't sell at all, leaving you right where you started.

Having a yard sale would be a lot of work that could come up with unsatisfactory results, so what else is there? The answer just may be an E Bay consignment store. Attempting to sell the items by auction on your own may prove stressful and overwhelming, particularly if you are new to the online world. Letting somebody else handle all of the associated tasks may be the best way, so you don't have to do it all alone.

Once you have selected what store you'd like to use, there isn't much else you need to do. The consignment store not only handles taking pictures of your items, they can also do research if you don't really know much about the item, particularly how much it could be worth. When it comes to designer clothing, having them do the price figuring can be especially helpful.

The consignment store also has many other services. When potential buyers have questions, they will do the answering. And there's no need to write out a fancy description about your item or worry about shipping it, they handle that as well. Buyers send the money directly to them, and they give you your share of the profit after deducting service fees. It's just that simple.

Before you hand your treasures over, unless they are collectibles, and especially if they are meant to be worn, make sure they are in quality condition. If there is a stain or other problem, be sure to let the consignment place know about it so they can take care of it. No matter what you have to offer, be they toys from your grandmother's childhood, designer consignment, or that box of collectible plates, keep a calm state of mind. The consignment store will handle the work, and all you'll need to do is sit back and wait for the money.
