A Policeman Needs Different Types Of Police Gloves

Gloves are every mortal's tactical wear during cold weather, or while handling hot things. Since police are forced to handle too many 'hot' things too often, they need special police gloves as protection against these myriad threats.

Controlling armed criminals is the routine job of the police, and to be able to use their hands to tackle these assailants, their hands need to be protected. Slash resistant police gloves, that are the safety wear of the police at such times, are leather gloves that offer protection against blades, knives etc. While the hard leather effectively resists sharp objects, these gloves have moisture wicking and pathogen resistant inner lining to keep the wearer comfortable. The police gloves that are used for searching are designed to protect the police not just from sharp objects, but also from blood or other body fluids that can carry an infection, or corrosive liquids that could injure the hands. Because of it, most safe search gloves will have four or five inches of cuff extension for additional protection. Police gloves designed for shooting is a must for all policemen. These are always made of stretchable material that fits on the hands like a second skin. Shooting gloves with different levels of insulation are available for use in cold weather. Then there are other special police gloves like riot control gloves for handling a rioting mob. Riot control gloves will have extended cuff to afford maximum protection to users. Foam injected knuckles and reinforced palms of riot control gloves are designed to deflect the blows and sundry objects that could be thrown towards the controlling policeman.

Policemen who have to work in clearing explosive devices, diffusing mines, or checking chemical leaks or chemical weapons, have special police gloves for each of these jobs. EOD gloves are flame resistant gloves used by bomb disposal squads. One of the ways in which they are made flame resistant is by dotting it with PVC, which has got flame retardant properties.

Since a policeman's job is not restricted to one specific type of search or confrontation, it is best for him to be ready with at least two or three types of police gloves. With special types of police gloves like chemical gloves or EOD gloves, policemen who are in charge of it should also know how to maintain it well so that it does not turn out to be unusable when an emergency makes the gloves necessary.
