The process of installing a new battery to your car should not take very long. There is no need to call a professional service from an auto repair shop in order to have a successful battery installation. In this article we are going to go over the steps on how to successfully replace your car battery with a new one.

There is only a few simple steps you should follow when installing a new car battery. Nevertheless, you should be extremely careful when you are undergoing a battery installation. Be sure that your eye is protected before attempting to start the installation process. As soon as you're secured, then go ahead and follow the simple procedure in installing a new battery.

First and foremost, you need to make sure that the engine is turned off. After that, you have to remove any protective cover from the battery first before disconnecting the battery itself. In disconnecting cables, make sure to disconnect the black negative cable first before disconnecting the red positive cable. Remember to always remove the negative cable first to avoid sparks. Afterwards, remove the mounting bolts and bracket by using a socket wrench. You may then remove the battery itself from the mounting, with the use of a lift strap to be extra careful and safe.

Next, you place the new battery into a tray that holds it. Then you need to attach the red positive cable first, followed by the black negative cable. With the use of brackets and bolts, tighten the nuts so the cables are secured. Now you have to be certain that none of the cables, whether negative or positive, are touching each other for safety.

Now for the final touch, which involves closing the hood. After that, you need to test if the battery works by starting the car. Once the engine starts, your vehicle is ready to go for some road action. And for the old battery, it's better to bring it to a recycling center for proper disposal.

You should make sure that the battery you will be installing runs good and is very reliable. You have to remember that the battery is where the car draws it's electrical power from. The other pieces or parts which is connected to your battery cannot perform well if the battery you installed is not in tip top shape. Even if you have successfully installed a new battery, the effort you gave is useless if the battery does not perform well.
