Nick Jonas, one of our favorite guy celebs, blessed the North Texas Food Bank on January 2 by pledging $25,000 to the facility. "If there's something I can do to help volunteer here today or giving a financial gift- that's something I can do," Jonas told The Dallas Morning News.

During his two hour visit, Jonas helped the charity by putting together food packages. A Dallas native, he felt at home working with his fans. Hours after volunteering, Jonas treated everyone to a debut performance with his new band Nick Jonas and the Administration at Dallas' House of Blues. Deciding to start the tour in Dallas "felt like the right move" for the successful star.

Around 140 people gathered to volunteer at the food bank and meet the darling celeb. Serena, the 10-year-old granddaughter of Food Bank President Jane Pruitt, was among the volunteers and a huge fan of Nick Jonas. She was ecstatic to actually meet him at the food bank.

"He knows his rights and wrongs, and he knows that other kids don't have what he has. And he's thankful for what he has," Serena said in an article from The Dallas Morning News. The problem of hunger around the world is of great importance to Nick. Being a diabetic, he understands how vital healthy and regular eating is to live a prosperous life. Some of his fans that are also diabetic look up to Jonas as a role model; someone who lives with diabetes and does not let it get in the way of his success.

Since they were children, the Jonas brothers have actively participated in charity efforts. Their father says that with their foundation their donations have equaled $1.5 million in each of the past two years. The North Texas Food Bank was a joint effort between TV's "The Biggest Loser" and the charity Feeding America. Feeding America is the U.S.'s leading hunger-relief charity, and is made up of over 200 food banks and food rescue organizations. Every year, the charity works to help feed around 25 million low-income Americans, consisting of at least 9 million children. Food Bank President Jane Pruitt was overjoyed with Nick's kind donation.

"This is our next generation of philanthropists," Pruitt expressed to The Dallas Morning News. "His (Nick Jonas') time here with these couple of hundred kids that are out here volunteering today- they're going to find out, 'Well, it's important to him, it should be important to me.
