How Illegal Drugs Damage Your Body

Drugs are substances that alter our body function. Due to quick absorption in the blood, they can change the entire mechanism of a human body. Drugs are classified into two types, legal and illegal drugs. Legal drugs are manufactured and carried out by the consent of the government. These are the drugs that are helpful to people and are available in the form of medicines to fight disease, lower pain and treat patients. Some drugs are not health-friendly, such as alcohol which has many disastrous effects on people who consume it. Excess of any drug is not good and should be administered carefully under doctors guidance only.

Illegal drugs include marijuana, LSDs, ecstasy, cocaine, crystal meth and heroin among others. Once a person gets a taste of any of these illegal drugs, he would want more and more and more. This causes a severe dependence on the drug and the person craves for higher and higher dosage to satisfy him. This in itself is an alarming affect of such drugs, however, those hooked on to them, seem to completely ignore that. Most illegal drugs impair performance.

The person taking drug may find it difficult to carry out routine activities effectively. These include attending school or college, going to work etc. Soon the person finds himself 'in' the drug circle and 'out' of the mainstream society. This is a vicious cycle and quickly yet unknowingly, the addict gets right into it, often never to return.

In most cases, groups of friends or one addicted friend can be the cause of addiction. Peer pressure gets one to do it and then keep doing it. Sometimes loneliness and inferiority complex can be the root cause of addiction. Some people think that drugs can help them forget all the worries of life, and by using drugs they will forget all their sorrows. It is an escapist theory, but one that does not change the reality one bit, perhaps, makes it even worse. Even a single dose of drugs can cause addiction.

Illegal drugs have a disastrous affect on our health and can lead a person to death. Constant drug use can lead to lung diseases, arthritis, heart problems, and irrecoverable brain damage.

Diseases such as HIV and hepatitis are also common in addicts due to the sharing of needles. The addict often becomes a useless person of the society, not being able to work or contribute to the world in a positive way in any way. Unemployment, crime, frustration and depression follow.

Heroin is another illegal drug that many people use. Heroin damages the human body by causing addiction. Once hooked on to the menace, if one refrains from it, it causes craving, insomnia, restlessness and body pain. A high dose of heroin can be fatal and can cause vessel collapse in the human body.

Although the way back if tough, but coming back form drug addiction is the only way. There are withdrawal affects and one need to take professional help when quitting drugs. It takes much resolve, family support and constant reassurance to get rid of this menace.

One should avoid taking any kind of illegal drug, no matter what the situation may be. People on medication should carefully and consciously administer responsible drug use in order to avoid the ill-affects of drugs.
