We are very concern with the doctrine we are teaching. This is very good and biblical too. But often we overlook the significant of our experiences. Being a Christian is more than being a good man. We must demonstrate the power and authority to confirm the gospel we preach. Of course, our faith does not depend on our personal experiences but on the word of the Lord. But this must not be used as an excuse to not contend for the fullness of prophetic anointing as what we read in the book of Acts. Here are some ways we should be walking in according to the Word of the Lord to receive greater portion of the anointing.
First, establish a clear vision for the fullness of the Holy Spirit. We need revelations to see God's will. The scripture tells us that the Lord promises for a greater outpouring of the Holy Spirit in the end times. We must hold on to the promises of the Lord and do not settle for less. The prophetic anointing the church is experiencing today is far from what God is willing to give us. We must take this vision of the fullness and press in until we see it.
Second, to whom has more will be given. If we treasure what the Lord has given to us and we steward it faithfully, more will be given to us. So, while we contend for the fullness and do not settle for less, we are grateful for whatever the Lord has already released. Do not despise the day of small beginnings.
Third, we must live a life of prayer and fasting. Prayer is the key to release the power of the Lord. The Lord gives us the opportunity to cooperate with Him in prayer. Fasting is not a way to earn anything but a way to tenderize ourselves to receive the Holy Spirit. When we are more receptive to Him, we are able to pray more in line with the will of the Lord. And this makes His will be done on earth. It is His will to pour the fullness of the prophetic anointing on His sons and daughters. We partner with Him to fulfill His promise in prayer and fasting.
Fourth, live holy. We are capable of living a holy life because the Holy Spirit is within us. The sinful old me is crucified with the Lord on the cross. The person who is living is not me but the Lord. In fact, this new creation in Jesus is incapable of sinning. The only thing we are able to do is to work out the will of God because we have become slaves of righteousness. Reject all the lies that are not in line with God's word. But be aware that you do not try to earn the anointing by living holy. We see the Lord anoints people who are carnal, too. He does it in His sovereignty and as a gift. We live holy because our Father is Holy.
Finally, we are willing to bear what comes with the anointing - suffering. All the servants of the Lord suffer for His name. Jesus said a student cannot be higher than his master. The world would treat us in the way it treated our Lord. But this is all worth it because we are able to cooperate and partner with Him in a deeper divine dimension.
