There are many different reasons people choose to get a tattoo. Some of them get tattoos because the want to rebel against their parents, society, or just in general. Others get a tattoo because they want a way to express their personality, or to make some kind of statement. There are also people who want a tattoo to honor a fallen loved one, or a dear friend.

For whatever the reason, there are some tips to not only help you choose the right one, but where you should place it on your body. This is not an easy decision to make. For one, there are so many different designs that is can be overwhelming, and two, this is a permanent addition to your body, and so where you place it can effect you for the rest of your life.

The first tip when choosing a tattoo is be patient. There are so many different designs, and variations of one thing that you really need to go over as many as possible in order to pick the one that best fits your personality or statement you want to make. For an example, if you want a skull tattoo, or dragon, you can probably find thousands of different variations. There are regular skulls, flaming head skulls, skulls with crowns of thorns, and many others. There are Chinese dragons, more modern looking dragons, dragons holding things, and more.

The next tip is to find a body illustration you can live with. People's opinions and ideas change over the years, but tattoos do not. If you are angry at the world in general now, and get a tattoo that says; FTW, later if your opinion changes, this is going to be a statement that is still there the rest of your life. Some people get tattoos that express their love for someone, only later to break up with that person. Unless you find another with the same name, you are going to regret getting a name on your arm or shoulder. If you want to express you love, get a tattoo that says; I love-Your Name Here, then you won't have to worry about it.

A lot of people ask where they can put a tattoo that isn't going to hurt. In truth, no matter where you put one, it is going to hurt to some degree. Placing a tattoo in an area that is close to the bone is going to hurt more than placing one in an area of fatty or muscle tissue. With the fact that it is going to hurt no matter what, here are some tips on placement.

Because this is a permanent body art, you have to take careful consideration where you put it. Even though main stream society is beginning to be more excepting of body illustrations, some old school generations still look down on it. There are jobs that require you to maintain a certain image, and if you have a tattoo placed where it can easily be seen, then you may not be able to get into that line of work. Some people choose to place them on areas of the body considered to be risque, breasts, butt, or even the pubic area, but careful consideration needs to be made when placing them in these areas, you don't want someone you care about to think less of you.
