A very catchy title, for a very catchy article. A freezing computer is a sign that you either have too many things running, or you have a problem with the computer. It can be hard to deal with a freezing computer if you're on a deadline, or doing something important like taking a test. Once you start seeing signs of a computer freezing, you should take some steps to fix it up before it gets worse. Before we go into that though, let's get into what some possible causes could be of a freezing computer.
1.) Spyware, Malware, or Trojans: If you download a lot from the Internet, you have a great chance of downloading these vicious problems. These viruses can mess up your computer files, slow your computer down, make it freeze, or even infect your programs. The problem with this is if it gets very bad, your computer will do more then freeze. It can get to the point where you get BSOD. Blue Screen of Death is nothing you ever want to experience. Malware needs its own personal software to get removed, and Trojans need extremely good software to remove them or at least quarantine. Some programs can be downloaded for free, but again, you run the risk of downloading viruses. I use Spyware Terminator for my Spyware issues, and I purchased AVG for my viruses.
2) Low RAM Memory (Random Access Memory): When you run too many programs at once, your memory starts to run as much as what can be used. Which means you might be running 420,000 out of 440,000 at one time. That is never good, because your computer doesn't know what to do, or how to do it. There are just too many things for it to focus on at one time.
3.) The last and final reason your computer is probably freezing is a combination of those two, mixed with a very dirty computer. Lost or missing files, invalid file paths, lose keys, all of those things will run your computer slower, and make it freeze more.
A few things you can do to prevent your computer from freezing is not run a lot of programs at once. Although you might want to surf the Internet, edit pictures, and download music at the same time, don't. You can't do all of that at the SAME EXACT TIME any ways, do close two of them and just do one at a time. Limewire is the WORST program to run while doing anything else. It is a huge program, plus when downloading songs you are usually downloading viruses. So just try running one program and maybe another if you must, only if it's small though.
Last and most important, save up to buy a registry cleaner...you will need it. It will run you about $20.00 - 45.00 but the money is worth it. The biggest thing is registry errors. Running the scan and fixing up the problems will definitely make your computer run faster. That is a guarantee.
