Some special interest groups, politicians and the like are making weak claims and downplaying the benefits of electric cigarette, but a hospital in Tampa, Florida made a decision this past week to allow the use of electronic cigarettes within the hospital.

I also found no objections to my smoking my GreenSmoke electronic cigarette at a hospital in Fredricksberg, Texas a week or two back.

Even though, smoking is banned in many public places I have had no problems with smoking/vaping my Electronic Cigarettes, eSmokes, E cigarette anywhere. With the e Smokes, Electronic Cigarettes or eSmokes a smoker can get their nicotine fix as easily as coffee or soda drinkers get their caffeine fix.

Electronic Cigarettes or eSmokes, as they are often referred to, have benefited companies that allow smoking only in certain areas. The benefit is increased productivity. The reason is, employees are not required to go to a designated smoking area. Electronic Cigarette smokers/vapers no longer reek of the burnt tobacco smell like someone who smokes a tobacco cigarette...you know, that odor that's stronger than 10 acres of fresh plowed garlic! In addition, there is no adverse affects to health from second hand tobacco smoke. It all translates into a large benefits for a company's bottom line, especially needed in tough economic times.

As recently as last July, the FDA released their little warning concerning electric cigarettes. The medical industry and the public are pretty much ignoring the FDA, probably because the report seemed to be a little biased. At a time when public distrust of the government in general and skepticism of the FDA as a reliable unbiased information source; the FDA may have better served themselves and the government in general, if the report had not appeared so obviously biased. It certainly sullied their image.

To add insult to injury on the FDA's warning regarding electronic cigarettes; Action on Smoking and Health (ASH) in the UK made public a favorable announcement and took a position in support of electronic cigarettes with this statement: "E-cigarettes, which deliver nicotine without the harmful toxins found in tobacco smoke, are likely to be a safer alternative to smoking. In addition, E-cigarettes reduce second hand smoke exposure since they do not produce smoke."

Yet, they continue their battle to remove an obviously safer product from consumers while allowing a known risk producing product to remain on the market. One could only conclude that there must be a money trail somewhere...I wonder what that may be.
