It's a daily struggle for many American to attain and keep a health weight. Many fail. The CDC reports that in several states the rate of obesity has risen steadily since the mid 1980's and in several states now exceeds 30 percent. This has been a boon for the weight loss industry as more and more people are seeking effective weight loss systems. One method that many people are finding lasting success with is weight loss through hypnosis. One frequently asked question though, is does hypnosis for weight loss work?

To understand how weight loss through hypnosis works it helps to understand why most traditional weight loss methods fail, and fail they do. The weight loss industry takes in billions every year but every year since 1985 the number of overweight people has gone up. That sounds like failure to me. At it's simplest, all traditional method of weight loss involve eating fewer calories and expending more energy. All the popular diets, exercise and weight loss programs simply provide variations of different methods of eating and exercise and most programs work if you follow them. The problem is most people find it to difficult to follow them. One common reason cited for failure to follow a better lifestyle is that people feel like they are fighting with themselves over what they want (something delicious) and what they know is good for them. It's like they are constantly at war with themselves. Most people lose that battle, as the average diet only lasts two weeks. That's where weight loss through hypnosis can help.

Science tells us that if we take in fewer calories that we expend, we will lose weight. This applies to everyone. The problem is, most people find it very difficult to eat less than they expend for any length of time. This is often due to the way we have been conditioned to think and act. It is our subconscious mind that controls most of our behavior and if we want to change our behavior we have to change the way we think. Other wise we will always feel like weight loss is a struggle instead of an easy natural process. Hypnosis for weight loss helps to create new thought processes. New subconscious thought patterns make our chosen diet and exercise plan feel natural and right, which makes it easy to be successful.

Some people have concerns about the safety of weight loss through hypnosis. This is a classic case of you shouldn't believe what you see on TV. All reputable hypnotherapists will tell you that they cannot make you do things that are not in your nature, like commit a crime. There has also never been a case of someone not coming out of hypnosis. Hypnosis for weight loss is simply a very focused state of mind in which your subconscious mind is open to suggestion and visualization. Achieving this state allows you to create though processes that lead to the actions that lead to weight loss.

There are pros and cons to weight loss through hypnosis. The advantages are, hypnosis for weight loss makes it easy to overcome the primary reason for weight loss failure, which is the battle you have with yourself to stick to the right kind of lifestyle. The only real con is that weight loss through hypnosis initially takes time out of your day for training. Just like any other skill you would learn you have to devote some time to it. Initially it only takes about 25-30 minutes per day.
