Movies can make thousands of millions of profits from different currencies like dollars, pounds, euros or other countries currency. In India, movies became a big part of their economy. Led by a few major studios, the movie industry is powered by companies like Warner, MGM, Paramount or Columbia. There are also many big companies which provides services to make a movie. They provide the special effects, props, making the set and lighting.

Movies that have big financial budget and famous holly wood stars on their cast are meant to touch a whole wide appeal. Producers, directors, staff and cast do everything to make the movie stand out and millions of movie goers will spend a couple of dollars to watch them. Movies that costs too much to make are called blockbusters. Special effects is a very important factor in making a movie specially the latest CGI effects, it can add more life but can surely make the budget more expensive.

At present, a lot of movies can cost up to $200 million to produce, but this cost is nothing compared to the return of investment when the movie is released to the public. It can obtain a lot more than how much they have spent that's why movies like these are still produced. In order to make this movie a hit, they need to promote it on different television channels, radio, newspaper ads, billboards and on the web.

Opposite to blockbusters are the independent, art, or Indie movies. These are normally produced by groups of small time directors that are still making their way to the big screen of some small movie companies. Indie films are slowly becoming popular but not yet to the extent that they are considered main stream. They are unusual but still interesting.

Independent movies oftentimes create not so ordinary or strange stories, some may have sad endings and does not appeal so much to the public. The public are more used to happy endings like in the big screen. The people behind the indie films rarely make a lot of money. However, if the movie is a success, big movie studios will offer them huge amounts to make another film.
