Don't be fooled by the fancy advertising campaigns touting the superiority of High Mileage Oils. You end up paying an extra ten dollars for an oil change for a minimal difference. Your better off using a high quality synthetic oil, which in fact keep your engine cleaner then high mileage oils.

What's seems odd about this unusual marketing approach is if you listen to what they are saying it's almost like they blame there other oils for why your engine is in such bad shape. You see it seems your seals need to be reconditioned, the sludge needs cleaned out of your engine and don't forget about your valves needing cleaned.

If these High Mileage Oils do such a good job and making your engine seem like new again then why not just make all your oil as good as the High Mileage Oils? I have often wondered if the big oil companies would like to offer an explanation on how their customers engines got so dirty in the first place providing they are of course using the same brand.

And don't be fooled by one oil company offering 300,000 miles engine guarantee. Let's get real for a minute. First, do you really plan on keeping your car that long? Second, under their plan you would have to use their highest priced synthetic oil at $64.95 for each oil change. The guarantee requires you to logon to the internet and record all your oil changes. Do you really want to be bothered with all the extra work just to keep this guarantee if affect.

I don't remember exactly what year it was, but the year after a well known oil company introduced the first High Mileage Oil they won a "Product of the Year" award. Are you kidding me, product of the year. What it should have been was the most clever advertising campaign award. We have tested several of the High Mileage Oils against a very high quality synthetic oil and there was a clear difference in engine cleanliness, fuel mileage and performance. The synthetic oil was the clear winner plus we were able to achieve a 25,000-mile interval using this particular synthetic.

The extra money you pay for High Mileage Oils is exactly what the oil companies want you to do. These cost about fifty extra cents per quart to make, yet they make an extra ten dollars on every oil change. Give the oil companies credit for dreaming up the perfect marketing plan for these oils it does seem to working, but if you really want to use them you would be better off using them when your vehicle has 5,000 miles on it, not 75,000 miles. If you're tired of having to change your oil all the time then perhaps you should consider some of the longer drain intervals on the market. These oils increase your fuel mileage and you don't have to change your oil for 15,000-25,0000 miles.
