Trying to build a home based or direct sales business? You have to understand that you are in the marketing business for one thing. Also you should know that these two rules must be followed for you to have a chance of succeeding. First, a professional marketer would NEVER try to market or promote their product or opportunity to anyone who is not interested and has not expressed their interest first. Second, People join leaders that know how build a business so if you want others to join you then you must become a leader.
You don't want to come across as a sales person. Instead you should provide solutions for your target markets problems. Who is your target market? People who are actively searching for your product or opportunity, or anyone who has ever bought a similar product or service before.
Following these rules is the only chance you have of succeeding because when you don't follow them you are perceived as a pest. You have a target market that is open to your prospecting and prospecting anyone else is a waste of your time. Wasted time is worse than wasted money because you can always earn more money but once you have wasted your time it is gone forever.
You do have specific targets and you may not get a positive response from all of them but your percentages go way up from prospecting to uninterested friends and relatives. Your target include former network marketers, current and struggling network marketers, those who want your products, those who use a similar product, and anyone who has ever purchased information about the industry.
There are many people who request information about the industry but that is not who I am talking about. We want those who have spent money. There is a big difference. If you ran ads asking for anyone who wanted to drive a racecar your list of responders would be much bigger and different from a list of people who actually drive racecars.
The talent level and the personal drive would be different too. That shows the difference in opportunity leads or opportunity seekers and network marketers or opportunity buyers.
What a CRAZY idea! Sell only to people who want to buy what you are selling and sign up only those who want to sign up. What kind of business person would do that?! If you were to send a DVD or CD to your Aunt Jane or to your sons soccer coach it would be like trying to sell a big juicy steak to a vegetarian.
Trying to push you opportunity on your friends and family not only is a waste of time but the rejections are extra hard coming from people you like and care about. If you are lucky enough to sign a few of them up there is a good chance they will not work the business as hard as you do. That means they will probably drop out when they figure out they are not making any money.
You have a gold mine of an opportunity and there are people looking for it so all you have to do is position yourself where they can find you and you will not have to chase anyone ever again. How much fun is it to chase people all the time just to get rejected anyway?
Doesn't it make sense to concentrate your efforts on positioning yourself where those who are looking for your products, service, or opportunity can find you? How much more open are those who already spent money in the industry compared to those who haven't ever tried to build a business in MLM?
If you really want to succeed, have fun, and build your business the easy way you just have to focus on the right people. They are the ones who are looking and find you and leave their contact information.
If you learn proper marketing techniques you will have the solutions that the 97% of all network marketers out there need so they can succeed and you will become the leader they want to join who can show them the way to succeed. If you learn what works and show others that is how this industry works. The more people you help the more successful you will be and the more you know the easier it will be.
