Insomnia symptoms affect people who have sleeping problems (if this affects you, download and read the free, in-depth report featured at the end of this text). Statistics show that the number of people who are unable to fall asleep fast is increasing by the day. With the recent economic recession that has hit homes, businesses and jobs worldwide, this is not surprising. What traces and signs can show that you are sleep deprived?

If you find it hard difficult to fall asleep fast at night then you are exhibiting insomnia symptoms. A lot of factors might lead to this, either individually or with several acting in concert. Anxieties, depression, fear are common causes that could make sleep impossible. People who are advanced in age might also find it hard to fall asleep fast at night due to natural physiological reasons. There are several ailments that could make a person sleep deprived. These are lung problems, bladder inflammations, arthritis, heartburn and heart related diseases.

When you wake up frequently at night and can not go back to sleep afterwards, and if this happens to you at least a few times a week, on a regular basis, for an extended amount of time, then you are exhibiting insomnia symptoms.

Do you wake up too early in the day, when you do wake up; do you feel tired and even much worse off than you did when you went to bed? Do you feel frustrated, stressed, easily irritated? These are insomnia symptoms and reasons why you don't fall asleep fast.

If you happen to be prone to sudden mood changes while you are awake, be aware that this is also a quite common sign that shows that you are having sleep issues.

The amount of good sleep that you have at night determines to a large extent how productive you will be in the day. It also influences how happy and relaxed you will feel. Also, sometimes we cannot sleep as a result of activities we engage in. Jet lag is a typical environmental cause of insomnia. When you move to a new environment or if you have to sleep in a room that's stuffy and hot, you probably won't get much sleep either.

Events that occur could also cause us to loss sleep. If you've lost a loved one or a job or a home or something really precious, there are tendencies that you will be depressed and this will stop you from sleeping.

There are also some activities that are best avoided before bedtime. When you smoke cigarettes, watch television late into the night or drink beverages that contain caffeine, you are living an unhealthy lifestyle and will soon start exhibiting insomnia symptoms. It's best to avoid these activities late in the evening and at night.
