Addiction or dependence of drugs is the main cause of numerous problems that exist in a community, or a society. Undoubtedly, drug abuse is the main cause of poor psychosomatic and medical conditions for an individual. Drug addicts are unable to survive, and behave like others in the society. They behave differently from normal individuals in various situations. They have no fear of surrounding, or other people, they become carefree, and lack the ability to concentrate like normal citizens of a community. They have no strength to do, or think properly according to the situation. They can even abuse their friends and family members, and have the tendency to commit crimes. They do not hesitate while doing any inappropriate thing; they can steal and cheat, they can lie, or abuse anyone just to fulfil their drug requirement.

This is seen as a major problem that is prevailing in youngsters these days. Large number of teenagers, adolescents, and adults are into drug addiction these days, which is marking an extremely negative impact on the society. Several countries together with international organisations are operating movements, and rehabilitation centres so that they can discourage drug abuse and encourage its handling, and fight with its dependence.

An addict usually develops drug dependence, and it becomes very hard for him/her to stop the abuse. People who want to get over drug addiction and give up this habit often find it very hard. The drug addicts are sometimes afraid and embarrassed to accept help; therefore, they do not even ask anyone for help. Some addicts who try to give up, often due to the severe withdrawal symptoms of drug addiction and craving, change their minds.

Several people think that it is impossible to give up addiction, but this is entirely wrong. The drug addiction can be fought if someone has good will power; all they need to have is proper awareness, full support, and a strong will. Drug addicts need constant help, and supervision of family, and counsellors. Their family and counsellors are the only individuals who can play most vital role in combating against addiction.

Families and counsellors play the most important role in fighting drug addiction, as the addict needs constant motivation and support. Drug addicts sometimes lack the confidence and do not trust the present treatments to get rid of their addiction. They just need a little support and motivation to gain this confidence. Sometimes drug abuse becomes a part of their lifestyle, and to them it seems impossible to get rid of this habit.

Solution to drug addiction is provided by many organisations and institutions to help the addicts leave this dangerous habit. If the drug addict has support from his/her friends and family along with a strong will to give up this habit, only then he/she can be successful.

A very useful way out to the problem would be to try, and reduce supply and availability of drugs from the society. In addition, by spreading knowledge, and awareness about side effects of drug abuse will certainly help the situation as well. When drug abusers will get to know about the severe side effects of its consumption, they will truly think about leaving this potentially lethal practice.

All an addict needs is the help from his or her friends and family. This is only possible by giving encouragement and full support to a drug addict. One can even seek help from different organisations, and rehabilitation centres in severe cases.
