Skimboard is a sport that uses a board to skim waves and perform tricks. Unlike surfing, skiffle board begins on the beach. Many people in a community usually get together to take part in the activity together.

Skim-boarding is also sometimes known as skimming or Skiffle Boarding. These names are often associated with the sport and might get used as a kind of slang term for skimboarding. Skimming is an amazing sport that people take part in all over the world. Some professional skiffle board individuals take part in competitions. One of the competitions on a yearly basis is known as, The Victoria Skim boards World Championship. This is held annually in Laguna, but there are also many more championships all over the world.

Many people love the wave riding aspect of skimming and their adrenaline rushes as they skim or break waves. The wood boards usually cannot be used to ride actual waves, but other materials are more suitable. To skim or break waves a person would use their momentum to successfully 'skim' out or try breaking waves.

There are many different areas of skimming that a person can specialise in. Some people just like the thrill of performing tricks whilst others like to ride waves. If a person simply wants to perform tricks then they will need a twin tip shaped board.

Before a person starts to skim they need to be on the wave face side against the "barrel" then they can skim over the waters surface at a swift and smooth pace. It can be tricky to master this skill and learn to balance correctly on the board. It is important to get up and keep on trying because if you give up too soon then you may never learn to master skimming which can be hours of fun. If you truly want to take part in competitions then you need to be tough and recover quickly from any accidents.

It is important to remember that you might face injury, but if this is your passion then you need to keep going. Skimming can be so much fun and it is a cool sport to take part in with friends and family. If at first you don't succeed try and try again.
