I live on Australia's Gold Coast, in a little suburb called Mermaid Beach. Its a lovely, sunny place to live, almost like a large country town. Not too big that you get caught up in the crazy pace of big city life and forget to take in all the blessings that come to you every day. Not too small that you miss out on the cosmopolitan conveniences that come with population centers.
We now have a baby on the way. A surprise that has brought us closer together. And as I was sitting here, watching my pregnant partner having a nap on the couch, I was suddenly overcome by an immense feeling of gratitude, that I am lucky enough to live the life I have built around me. I don't have to go to the office or a work site anymore, trading my days away to put food on the table, I let my internet businesses do that for me.
Instead of having to wake up for the early morning commute, I get to pop out of bed whenever it is that my body decides it has slept enough. This is followed by a short stroll down to the beach (just outside my front door) for a good surf session. Once my body decides that it has had enough of that too, I go catch a coffee from the cafe just right up the road from home and then sit down. For the next few hours, I manage my sites, writing articles similar in nature to the one which you are reading at present. Through this constant process of optimization of my websites I help guarantee that in the future as at present, I will not have to go work at an office but will remain my own employer.
Then, right about the time I eat lunch, the postman will pass by. This is the most exhilarating moment of the day, as he often brings me the checks that make all of this a feasible and livable job, how lucky I am!
And I know why I am lucky too. Its because I learned the skills required to sell products and services on the internet. Goodness knows I can't sell in the physical world, I don't have thick enough skin for the constant rejection. But I can sell on the internet.
The real reason I know how to do this line of work is that I studied and acquired the internet marketing techniques and skills necessary to turn a website into a cash-flow machine. I learned from the best of the best and I am always taking advantage of opportunities to improve myself. Complacency has no place in internet marketing!
In the end, I find it impossible to comprehend how people complain about their jobs so much yet do nothing to change their set of skills or their line of work, to turn their passion into a career. The only things one needs to do so are equal measures of planning, commitment, and hard work to make it all happen. Aah, now I see the reason, it's just like Thomas Edison said:
"Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.
