Advice On Hiring A Limousine

Hiring a limousine is something that everyone should do at least once in their life. They add a touch of class to an event and ensure that your arrival will not be forgotten by you (or anyone else for that matter). It is much more affordable to hire a limousine these days compared to a few years ago, especially if you share the cost with a few friends, and most cities have at least a couple of firms that hire them out. There are a few things that you need to consider before going ahead and hiring one though.

The function you will be attending will determine the color of limousine you should hire. Common events for which you might hire a limousine are birthday or anniversary parties, high school proms, weddings, funerals, career functions and other formal gatherings. Black is definitely appropriate if the event is a funeral, a formal gathering or a work related event while white should always be used for weddings. Parties, dances and other special events could even go with a more festive yellow or blue.

Once you have chosen the color, it's time to decide what type of vehicle you want to hire for your special event. Today there are many different choices available outside of the traditional stretch limousine we think of from the movies. Some companies even have exotic cars made into limousines such as Hummers, Range Rovers, Escalades and even BMWs. More common types of limousine manufacturers include Mercedes-Benz, Bentley, Rolls Royce in either standard stretch or even super-stretch models. You need to know, however, the larger and more exotic the limousine you choose to hire, the more it will cost you in the end.

Once you have decided on the type of limousine you will need, you can do a bit of research online. The simplest way to start is to type in limousine and your home town into Google and just go through what comes up. Some websites may not advertise their prices online so you may have to phone them. Have the dates and times that you want the limousine for handy because there is rarely just a standard price. How far you will want the driver to take you will also be a factor in the price that you pay so give that some thought before making the call too.

Most companies within a given geographic area charge comparable prices so checking one or two should give you a general idea of the going rate for the services you need. You should try to determine quality of a service by finding out the age of the vehicles in their fleet, how the driver will be dressed, what other amenities might be included (champagne, chocolates, etc). Most companies are glad to have you come to their establishment to look at their vehicles and this is always a good idea.
