Redecorating is a job that many people love to do, but at times it can get a bit expensive. But there are ways in which you can decorate a room and not spend that much money. What it takes is a lot of hard work on your part, and a lot of creativity and imagination. You can change the look and feel of rooms rather quickly with only a few changes. Maybe you want a room that is more art deco, you can accomplish this very easily by using colors that are both dark and bright and alternate them around the room. This way you may be able to keep the old furniture and save money.

Modern decor is all about a minimal look. A room that you want to place the modern look in doesn't need to have tons of things in it. You need plain things that can look good, but not have too many accessories. Something that is very geometric in style. Accomplish this in the bedroom by making a new headboard. You can use Styrofoam and cut out shapes like triangles and stars, than clue them to the headboard. Don't forget to paint them before you place them up though. You can also add a nice fabric to the headboard that is modern looking.

You can create your own curtains, or throw pillows and all at a very inexpensive price. Use those old linens that you were going to throw away. Sewing up a pillow or curtains that can change the look of a room in which you add them too. Or you can even get some dye and change the color of the material. Making your own slip covers for furniture is very easy too. There are so many things that you can change with a minimal amount of money being spent.

Area rugs or throw pillows added into a room can make the room look totally different. Again you can make the pillows yourself. Rugs you can find that won't cost a lot of money either. Just make sure what you buy goes with the room design

Get those old area rugs together, and if they still match the color that is in your new room, you can change the look of them quickly and easily. Get a cool looking stamp, something that is geometric in design if you're still sticking with the modern look. Put some paint on the stamp and then put it on the area rug. Now you have created a new area rug that will fit in great with the new look of your room. And again you haven't spent a lot of money.

Area rugs can be redecorated in much the same way. If you have an area rug that already matches your color scheme use paint to stamp geometrical designs onto the rug. If you do not have an area rug that will match you can cheaply purchase a solid color area rug and add color in the same way. Try using the shapes that you will use for your head board to do the stamping. This will ensure that you have a perfect match and save time, because by the time you finish most of your shapes will be thoroughly painted!
