BMW and Volkswagen announced that they would do a recall in U.S. targeting 1 Series model, respectively Routan. While BMW officials did not want to announce the number of specimens affected by this recall, Volkswagen will recall 15,902 units in service. It seems that not only the japanese car manufacturers have problems with recalls for the US, but also European ones. The niche press will now wonder if customers will be affected by this recall in terms of trust in the german models, as it happened in case of Toyota.

German manufacturer BMW will make a recall in U.S. targeting 1 Series model produced from 2008 until now. They identified a problem with the belt tensioning system for front seats that can lead to a fire. This may not be a huge problem for most, but in matters of security, Germans have always been very cautious so small details like this are indeed a reason for a recall.

Bavarian Company officials did not provide the number of units called into service. A fire risk because of the belt tensioning system can occur only if a very serious accident, were the words used by Jan Urbahn, BMW officially in a letter sent to NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration). Keeping in mind that no-one really wants to get involve in an accident, it is obvious that most clients will consider this problem as a minor one and may keep their faith in the Bavarian manufacturer.

Volkswagen will make a recall of 15,902 model units Routan. They show a failure to lock the back door, which can cause a short circuit. Recall the two sites were announced two days after NHTSA leadership voted to tighten rules and increase even the finest security on vehicles. Volkswagen will have a bit more work than BMW on fixing a problem that is a bit more of a push than the seat belts.

Yet again we have the evidence that an independent association that can handle car check is a good decision for all car manufacturers. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration will keep an close eye on all the small details that can, at a certain time, save lives in case of an accident or can be a simple improvement in the confort of a vehicle. That beeing said, we will now observe how the market will react to BMWs and Volkswagen`s recall in the US.
