When it comes to moving into a college dorm room, you must plan your interior decorating accordingly. Space will normally be sparse in these conditions, so you want to make sure to include the essentials at every step of the process.

This article will discuss some great furniture and accessories for an incoming college student's dorm room.

Any college student living in a dorm room will likely want to have some sort of storage option. Space is limited, so you will want to use the space you have efficiently. One of the best ways to do this is to use storage compartments under your bed. These can be purchased at any store from Bed Bath and Beyond to Target to Wal Mart and are incredibly beneficial in saving space.

If the dorm room has plenty of sun light coming through then it may be a good idea to get blinds or curtains for the window. Chances are you (or your son or daughter) will not feel like waking up at 8am on a Sunday after a long night out from the sunlight peering into the room.

One good piece of advice I can give is to get several sets of bed linens. You never know what will happen on a rowdy night in college and you should always be prepared by having backup linens. During my time at school I saw it all. Interpret that as you see fit.

It is a well-known fact that many college students have unusual sleeping habits. If you have a paper due early the next morning, there is a good chance you will be up late at night working on it. Because of this, you will want to make sure to have a good desk lamp accessible. This will help you get work done when the sun is down.

It is always a good idea to have a TV present in the dorm room. In recent years, the prices of flat screen televisions have dropped dramatically, which is perfect for a dorm room. These televisions take up way less space than traditional tube televisions and are easier to transport.

If this is your first year at college, or your son or daughters, you should be very excited. Follow this checklist and get whatever else you see fit.
