"You've both decided to get married and have an engagement party is the perfect way to tell all your family and friends about your plans. You want to have a terrific party but don't know where to start. These are some considerations so that you can throw a fantastic engagement party.

The first thing you should do is talk this over with your partner and go over all the details and make the decision together. Discuss a venue and select a date that works for everyone. You may choose an intimate dinner party at a restaurant or hotel. If you want to go casual, a beach or poolside party is a great and fun alternative.

You'll also need to consider who would be on your guest list. Of course, you will need to consider your budget when it comes to making the guest list. Discuss the theme or style. You can choose a 70s or 80s party, a Hawaiian party or anything unique. This is, after all, your party, thus, it can be in any form. This means that you can do whatever you want that will be according to your preferences.

Planning ahead of time is the key. Make sure everything is ready at least a month before the actual date of the party. Make sure that you talk to your caterer, make a reservation for your chosen venue so that you can avoid any last minute confusions and you can still have ample time in case someone has already booked the venue ahead of you. Pay attention to every aspect of the occasion to ensure that there won't be any oversights. You wouldn't want to be tensed celebrating this very special event, right? Therefore, you should plan in advance.

It should be fine to ask help from your family or close friends when making plans for this big day. You can maybe ask your best friends to help you make arrangements with the caterers. Go over the plans at least 5 times so that you are sure that you have covered all the details. Be open-minded and ask them if there's anything they think should or should not be included in this plan. And don't ever forget about getting a photographer for the occasion. Delegate some tasks to close family members and make sure they're aware of their participation.

One more thing, don't forget about the entertainment during the party. The entertainment that you will be having should match the theme of the event. It is important that the entertainment matches your personality. If you want to have a pleasing and classy atmosphere, you can have a pianist during the party, or if you want something modern, you can hire a DJ or you can rent a karaoke machine and just sing the night away. It is important that you create a fun atmosphere. Make easy-to-reach food stations and self-serve bar so that your guests will be encouraged to talk to each other and get to know each other.

Your engagement party won't be complete without a toast. This is usually done by the parents or by someone important to either the groom or the bride, however, you should also inform them in advance so that they won't be surprised.
