Car insurance also comes in handy if you are in an accident and your car has to be at the shop for a few weeks to be worked on. You are left without a car for those few weeks but still need to get to and from work. If you have rental car reimbursement coverage on your policy you are able to rent a car and for the time that your automobile is being fixed your insurance will compensate you for either all or a portion of the expense. Depending on the company you are insured with this will happen one of two ways; you pay for the rental car upfront and then submit a receipt for reimbursement or the rental company will bill your insurance company. This comes in extremely handy and is a definite positive of having car insurance.

In most states it is required to have some sort of car insurance coverage. If you don't follow this law then before you know it your registration on your car will be suspended. If you were to get pulled over with a suspended registration and no car insurance your automobile would most likely get impounded, ultimately costing you more money then a monthly insurance policy.
