For all the people who are now past their teenage years, video games are something that we have lived and grown up with. Most of the legendary Video Games were released in front of our eyes and every single one of them shared an experience that is unexplainable. Longa ago it used to be Atari and arcades with games like Pole position, Outrun and Test drive but in the 90s, the graphics and game play gradually increasingly enhanced. Years passed and with time we were able to buy a real car from some New Jersey Chevrolet dealer. Yet, that car from NJ Chevy dealer wasn't any match with the fun we had with our joysticks.

There are uncountable numbers of auto-driving games up till now, but there are only some which left a mark on our minds and actually revolutionized the whole typical driving game experience. It is not deniable that the 80s and early 90s games are still the true legends that started it all but this article discusses games that were released after the mid 90s and added gear to the whole auto experience. Let us take a look at four famous games that didn't just depend on typical racing strategy, but made gaming even more exciting.

Need For Speed

Simply said, this is the legend that started it all. During the mid 90s, when everyone was content with arcade games, Need for Speed showed us that it's not all about driving on the track and winning the race. gamers had the opportunity to select from real locations and cars and also to unlock more tracks and cars as the game was played. It appeared like for the first time the game developers had seriously teamed up with automobile giants for such a venture.

Grand Theft Auto

A game which was not purely a driving game as the gamer was able to get out of the vehicle and mess with other things in the area. That is what made it a legend. The first part, although not very hi-fi in terms of graphics and the view, totally set new boundaries for a driving game. The the scenario was more exciting than ever and the gamer was able to stop the car even during a mission, get out of the vehicle, steal some other vehicle and carry on with the mission. This gave any gamer the freedom needed to make games more exciting.

Gran Turismo

When this game was released in 1997, there was hardly any driving/racing game which was able to meet its high end graphics. Besides, it had wonderful collection of cars and countless customization options which could alter the performance of the car. The handling was also very smooth and real as compared to other games of that time

Driver

There is truly no car driving/racing list complete without this legendary mention. Released in 1999, this game told us what the new generation car driving games were going to be like. There was a strong story line, characters and explorable locations in the game. Overall, it was a role playing driving game which made the players a part of the game and story.
