Parenting tips are related to the age of child and any issues that you have with your child. There are sound tips by professionals, and there are tips that are given by other parents that they have tried and worked for them. The internet is full of websites with tips on every aspect of child rearing. As your child matures the tips will also change. We will look at newborn to preschool age tips.
When you bring home your newborn your challenges will be meeting the needs of the baby. Learning the crying patterns, knowing when your baby is hungry, needs a clean diaper, or just needs to be held and loved. Getting used to new routines, like middle of the night feedings and daily naps. This is also the time to set down guidelines as a parent. Start setting a routine for your baby. Give them their own room. Put them to bed at the same time each night. Feed them at the same times each day. Give a warm bath before bed time, and put on pajamas. Get up at the same time each day. This sets the routine that your baby will come to know and expect. This should be carried out throughout child hood with changes as your child matures.
Once your baby is a toddler you will have safety issues to address. Cabinet locks, plug outlet covers, sharp objects or breakables out of the toddlers reach. Your child is exploring and learning at a fast pace. Keep your yard safe for your toddler. If you have a pool, put up a locked gate. Keep the yard free of debris, and make sure the plants in your yard are not harmful for children. They stick everything in their mouth. Start getting your toddler to do some things for themselves like brushing teeth, helping with their own bath, picking up their own toys. This helps to instill responsibility. Stick with bedtimes and naps just as you did before. Keep a routine. Children do better in a structured environment.
After the toddler stage they become preschool age. This is the time to complete or start toilet training. Children are usually ready by this time. The reward system works well for this training. There are many tips on the web for toilet training your child. This is a good time to start to let go and let your child socialize with children their own age. It is also time for them to start learning, colors, letters, shapes, and numbers. This should be done like a game with your child. At this age pressure will bring you both nothing but aggravation and tears. Work with your child, but do not force your child.
Next your child will be school age, and with that a whole new set of tips is needed, like how to choose what type of school is best for your child. Do you want private school or public school? Are you considering home schooling? These are just a few things you can look forward to in the near future.
