Yoga teachers tend to be a good source of ideas about useful yoga products that can truly improve the results you get from doing yoga. Often an instructor will have particular choices that complement their style of teaching, or at least they have the experience level to make a recommendation that is based on fact and not just speculation. There are many products out there for yoga practitioners, and some are often used by beginners and experts alike.

Some teachers of yoga are very big on a having a particular type of yoga mat. While some will extol the benefits of having a modern mat with a design that has been crafted using the latest technology as a way to supplement their yoga exercises, others will promote mats from the past. You can buy handcrafted mats that use a particular blend of materials, usually cotton, to provide a strong grip, absorbency and a good level of comfort.

It will depend on each person, but some yoga teachers are big fans of certain yoga videos out there. While almost all instructors will recommend that any positions shown in the videos be checked by an expert, so that you don't do anything incorrectly and damage your body, many will suggest using videos as a way to enhance your overall yoga experience. Books are another possibility, again as a way to continue learning at home.

There are some teachers of yoga who are completely immersed in the lifestyle, and will recommend the use of different products that may enhance the experience of doing yoga, but don't really provide any real benefits. Yoga clothes are one example. To do yoga only requires a loose fitting outfit or material that stretches, but some teachers feel that clothes that are specifically designed for yoga will help students get into the proper mindset.

While yoga teachers will have their own opinions on how much you need certain products in order to enjoy the yoga experience, ultimately it will be your decision. You may not have the money to invest in videos, books, mats and specific yoga clothing, or you may only use yoga as a method of exercising two or three times a week. Yet if you are interested in immersing yourself in the yoga lifestyle, then there are many different choices out there.
