There is little that can compare to hitting the open road and traveling throughout this beautiful country in the comfort of an RV. In fact, the only thing that might be missing is the internet. Travel is even better now that RV satellite internet service is available.
For many of us, going online is something we do everyday. It might be to pay a bill, check our bank balance, log into our Facebook account, or send and receive email. Doing without internet access is a hardship for even a short period of time.
Before RV satellite internet became available, the only way to access the internet when traveling in your motorhome was to stop at WiFi hotspots or maybe stay at campgrounds that offered internet access. Now with internet via satellite, you no longer have to do that.
When you have a satellite internet service you can stay connected no matter where you might be. You can choose from two basic models. One model has the satellite dish permanently mounted onto the roof of your motor home, fifth wheel, or trailer. The other model is a portable unit. In either case, you will have a fast internet service whenever you are stopped.
The satellite unit uses what is referred to as GPS technology to find and lock onto a signal from a satellite. When it locks on, you get a high speed internet connection.
There are two types of these satellite units. One of them is an automatic roof mounted unit, while the other is manually mounted onto a tripod.
The roof mounted unit will retract automatically whenever the RV is moving to avoid wind damage while traveling. But you also have the option to manually activate the stow button if you decide to retract the unit at any time while you're parked.
Automatic units cost more than the tripod mounted manual units. This extra expense is because of the technology used to deploy the system automatically.
Tripod units have to be put together before each use and then taken apart before travel. Tripod units are a good size so you'll need to be sure to have a large enough storage area. At the same time you'll want to be able to easily access the unit..
Tripods units are probably better suited to use after a day of traveling. It's probably not worth the effort to set up a tripod unit if you are just making a brief stop.
A manually mounted tripod unit is much more flexible than an automatic unit. A tripod unit is lot more easily moved compared to having to move your whole RV. For an RV satellite internet system to work, the southern sky has to be visible without any obstructions getting in the way.
Staying connected with an RV satellite internet service while you travel is easy. So why shouldn't you enjoy all the conveniences of home, even if the convenience is a fast internet service.
