Mining is the method by which rare and common materials such as metals and fuels are extracted. There are over 7000 mines all over the world and some of these mines are thousands of years old and are still abundant with materials and resources. There are many types of machinery used for the mining. Some of these machines are built for special mining operations. The machinery used depends on the type of mine. Sub-surface mining requires more filtering and land clearing machinery such as sediment removers and deforestation equipment. The process for preparing land for mining is complicated and generally handled by the government committee responsible for land ownership. When clearing the land an approximation of the annual revenue from the mine must be taken into account.

Mining equipment generally consists of detection and mapping tools. These are used to detect weak points within the earth and allow miners to plot a system that is secure. Drills and transporting equipment are the heavy machinery in the mining process. These tools are generally human operated remotely. Trained technicians are employed to use these machines due to the cost and delicate nature of the equipment.

Drills are commonly used to create deep tunneling shafts for transporting and inserting materials. An extensive tram network is also used to transport large amounts of are and metals. The system created within the mine using machinery is quite intricate and is costly. Therefore the structural integrity of the mine must be developed and secure.

After the ore is extracted it is transported to mills where the second phase of machinery is used to purify and create compounds that are then distributed to other industries. Large crushes, reactors and high temperature soldering material are used to complete this stage of the mining process.

Mining equipment is essential in the creation of mines. During ancient times mines were created using crude tools and many lives were lost in the process. However thanks to the advances in technology we can safely harvest the resources within the earth without endangering human lives.
