Starcraft 2 Marauder Unit Guide

The Marauder is inadequate versus : Brood Lord, Mutalisk, Hydralisk, Zergling,Carrier, Mothership, Void Ray, Dark Templar, Immortal, Zealot(until you get concussive shells),Banshee, Battlecruiser, Siege Tank

The Marauder is good against :Roach, Ultralisk ,Thor,Viking,Reaper,Stalkers

The Terran Marauder is known as a basic armored infantry unit within the terran army .He's very good in vast quantities versus structures as well as armored ground units.The down-side of the marauder is that often he can attack only ground units,leaving him susceptible to air enemy units . Terran competitors regularly use marauders combined with marines (aka M and M bio ball) and also with marines and medivacs [The MMM bio ball)

Marauder Upgrades And Abilities

Stimpack : The Stimpack upgrade operates in the same way for the marauder as it does for the marine,it gives a 15 second acceleration and attack range boost at the cost of 10 health points.Whenever you apply the stimpack your unit will lose 10HP though the benefits are good for sizeable groups of marines and marauders.It's easy to kite larger and more sluggish foes ,or you can use it for a quick evade if everything doesn't go in your favor.It's always best to utilize the stimpack at the outset of an engagement because you can make the most of the spell time frame.Also remember that the stims never stack,should you cast it more than once you do not get additional buffs,you will only loose hp.

The Concussive Shell : Researched from the Barracks techlab along with the Stimpacks,this upgrade can be a must for marauders.With this ability the marauder slows any enemy unit he strikes for 50 Percent of their movement speed, very good when facing a large zealot army,or reaper harass.

Marauders Against Protoss Players


Marauders are a great preference versus many Protoss units,they're able to easily outnumber and destroy formations of Zealots and Stalkers,wich make the majority of protoss armies in early stages of the game.With proper support from other units they can be good against Immortals and Collosi.The units to protect yourself from with marauders are air units like Void Rays and Carriers,never engage an air army if you are heavy on marauders.

Marauders Versus the Zerg

They shine at eliminating Roaches and Hydralisks,with concussive shells becoming especially fatal. Be aware of zerglings with the marauders,they may be very weak versus packs of zerlings on their own,but can effortlessly handle them with a marine or hellion escort.As they can't attack air units you need to avoid mutalisk clusters at all costs.Against mutalisks they are better combined with Thors and Vikings than Marines.

Marauders Against Terran Players

As always Terran VS Terran match ups could be a little tricky.Scouting is a vital component in games like this. Against Terran players marauders are certainly great for quick rushes,just before your opponent throws out siege tanks.They are often remarkable against heavy mechanical armies,such as thors and vikings .With appropriate micro management and support they can break through thru a siege tank fortress,and with the help of stims they can ruin clusters of tanks before they're going into siege mode.
