No one likes a boring baby shower. There are many baby shower games and ideas that will bring life to any baby shower. Short games that just a few volunteers or all of your attendees can take part in will definitely lighten up the party.
Games used during the course of the shower should take place either shortly after the beginning of the shower or during the gift opening period. Any type of small item can be used as prizes for these games. These can be purchased
at most dollar stores, or even handmade by the host if they so desire.
Being creative with these gifts will definitely add spice to the shower. These items can be something small and related to the theme, if a theme is used for the shower. Or just simple items such as a pocket calendar, dishcloths, or other handy item will suffice.
However, always be sure that whatever baby shower games and ideas you use are games and ideas the entire audience will like and want to participate in.
Knowing a little about your guests' background will help tremendously in choosing the games as well as the gifts.
Since it is reasonably possible that not everyone at the shower will know each other, try to choose games that will help them to interact with each other. This will help break the ice in meeting one another.
Once you are comfortable with your knowledge of everyone attending, you may use one or any of the following baby shower games and ideas:
1. Mommies and Babies Game -
This game is usually suited more towards the younger crowd at the shower.
Participants are given the name of an animal and they have to respond with the proper "baby" to that animal - i.e. - cats have kittens.
For even more fun, place a pile of pictures consisting of different animals on a table. Then allow everyone to pick a picture and disclose it's baby's name. Also, you can have the participant imitate the baby animals' sound.
2. Mother Goose Game-
This game is usually suitable for all ages. Using several old nursery rhymes, choose a few lines from each one. Then read these lines one at a time out loud but intentionally leave out one word from each line. The guests attempt to fill in the blank of the missing words of the rhyme. The winner is the person who gets the word correct first.
3. Baby Item Memory Game-
Gather together various baby items and place them on a tray, then allow the guests to see them for 20 to 30 seconds. Guests should then be instructed to list those things they remember seeing. The winner is the guest who lists the most items correctly.
4. Baby Food Game-
This game will require a few various flavors of baby food still in the jars with the labels removed. A number for identifying should mark each jar. Each guest is asked to determine the flavor either by taste or smell. The winner is determined by who gets the most right answers.
More baby shower games and ideas:
This next game should only be played if guests already know each other.
As the guests arrive, have them list something about themselves that isn't well known to others. They may include things such as promotions, positions at work, or maybe a special ability they have. Place each persons note into a container with all of the others.
Each person is then asked to take one note and see if they can figure out whom they are reading about.
The host could also do the reading of the notes and let everyone try to correctly identify the person.
Any or all of these baby shower games and ideas will help to get your attendees to mingle with one another and bring about a more relaxed and fun atmosphere. Along with these, you may want to devise your own games based on how many persons are in attendance and on your knowledge of them and the age groups present.
