When you hear the word "snicker", you may think of a chocolate bar brand by Mars, Incorporated. On the other hand, when you hear the word "doodle", you might just think of an absentmindedly drawn scribble. But when you put the two words together to form the word "snicekrdoodle", it is interesting how we think of the Christmas cookies that has nothing to do with chocolate or absentminded scribbling. Instead, we associate it with a sugary cookie that is made out of butter or oil, sugar, and flour, sometimes with eggs as well, that is rolled in cinnamon and white sugar.

Flavor-wise, the primary flavor of snickerdoodle is spice. It has a cracked appearance that occurs during the baking, but it can be crispy or soft, depending on your own preference of how it should be made. Where leavening agent is concerned, traditional methods uses baking soda and cream of tartar, while more modern ones tend to us baking powder. Modern recipes also may include other ingredients such as nutmeg, nuts, and dried fruit, and can be made crunchier by adding more shortening and cooing it for a longer time. Nevertheless, this cookie is very easy and quick to make, that children can usually help out with during the Christmas season. Here is a snickerdoodle recipe that is just as addictive as the Subway snickerdoodle recipe.

This modern snickerdoodle recipe takes about 20 minutes to make in total, and requires 1 cup of butter, 1 cup of sugar, 2 large eggs, 1 cups of flour, 2 teaspoons of cream of tartar, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, teaspoon of salt, 3 tablespoons of sugar, and 3 teaspoons of cinnamon. Begin by preheating the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, and then mix the butter, 1 cup of sugar, and eggs together in a large bowl. Then, in a separate bowl, mix the flour, cream of tartar and baking soda together, before mixing it with previous mixture. Chill the dough in the fridge for about 10 to 15 minutes, as well as an ungreased cookie sheet. In the meantime, you can prepare the cinnamon mixture, by mixing 3 tablespoons of sugar, and the cinnamon in a bowl. Then, you can scoop dough in 1 inch globs and roll them into balls in the sugary mixture as its coating. Put them on the chilled ungreased cookie sheet, and then bake for 10 minutes. Once done, leave to cool, and serve! Why look for a Subway snickerdoodle recipe when you can have one as yummy as this?
