Getting married is probably one of the most expensive ventures you will experience in your lifetime and if you are on a tight budget, you are more than likely going to want to find ways in which you can save money and stay within your budget. One way you can do this is by trying to find yourself affordable engagement rings. This might sound like a tough task to accomplish, but with some planning and taking the right steps it is something that can be done.

To start with, you are going to want to sit down and figure out the amount of your budget that is going to be needed for your engagement rings. Depending upon the diamonds and other gems there might be, they can range from a few hundred dollars to several thousand dollars.

After you have your budget in mind you are going to need to start looking up different listings for your rings. You can do this by going online and checking out large online jewelers or sellers. You might want to check out sites that offer a variety of different resources. These can provide you with a variety of resources for those who are looking for good deals on rings.

You can do your search by picking the size of the carat, it's clarity rating, the cut rating, the color rating and the style that you are looking for. After you've done this you will need to write down all of the different costs that you come up with and then compare these different prices with the budget you have set down. Make sure to jot down the cost of each set of rings as well as the different specifics of each one.

Once you have this information you can now start looking up different independent jewelry stores that are in your area or surrounding area. You can start calling each of the jewelers to see if they have any engagement rings that happen to match the specs and prices that your research came up with. Then take and compare all of their answers that you have jotted down in your notes.

After this research has been down, you now should be able to take at least three of the stores that you called and go and visit them in person so that you can actually take a look at what they have to offer. When you are examining each one, you should look for any really noticeable flaws and also see what the diamonds look like in sunlight. Take pictures of the them as well, if they'll allow you to.

You might want to ask each jeweler if they deal in loose diamonds. The reason for this is that you can get a better look at the diamonds and generally those who deal in loose diamonds and do their own settings will cost you a lot less than if they were made by someone else and shipped into their store.

After going over all your notes, reviewing the photos if you took them, you should be able to pick your favorite set of engagement rings from one of the three jewelers that you visited. Remember, it's best to stick with independent jewelers instead of going with a jewelry chain, the independent jeweler will save you a lot of money.
