Every school year opening, we often wonder how to make this year a little better than last school year for our kids. Of course, some parents would welcome the new school year with a light heart either because they can have peace at last in their homes without the kids running around., But for those parents who are seriously concerned about their kid's performance in school, they will somewhat be caught up in stress just because they want this year to be better especially when their kids would also want to in excel. Let us look at some things to avoid during the current school year.
Do not cultivate negative outlook. It is true that the academic syllabus is becoming more and more advanced than they were in your time. You can see the big ever difference then and now. But it does not necessarily mean that we are not equipped with enough knowledge to cope up with these. You can never say 'I can't' always say 'I can' so that you can show your kids a good spirit to begin the school year with. Your words and deeds will likely affect the kind of start they will be making.
Do not make any excuses for not being able to plan ahead. Define clearly your goals and ambitions that you want to attain during this school year. After doing this you can device a plan with your kids on how you are going to do this without compromising anything in particular. Help your kids in planning their goals and to realize them but do not allow them to dream of something too high to reach. Planning will entail your kids to realize what they can and what they cannot do. Each kid has their own set of strengths and it is your role to cultivate that for their good.
Do not ever give up. A school year is a school year which means it has 10 months all in all. Do not give up halfway before reaching the end of the year. As much as possible, keep the fire and excitement burning. Make your kid realize that they will never be able to attain anything if they will give up soon before they even made anything to realize the plan that they have made. Help them keep track of things and guide them towards fighting not giving up.
Do not neglect the social aspect of school. Many students will think that school performance and engaging in school activities are their only life and a full time work at that. They sometimes will go into a serious mode and forget the social aspect of things. Remind them that they have a life outside school academics and school activities. Try and let them see that they need some time to spend for their selves, to relax and unwind.
Truly, if we set out our hearts to doing something for our kid's success by helping them out and guiding them towards the right direction, anything can be possible.
