I remember when I was young and used to receive many insurance brochures in mails, that was the time when I was young and in mid twenties. I was healthy and full of energy. I never once had a thought of taking a life insurance policy. I used to think that life insurance policy if for those people who are old or for those who have families and they have to secure their lives, why should I bother about it now? Then one day I saw an advertisement that completely changed my view about taking a life insurance. I remember the next day I was debating about life insurance with my friends and I was getting the same kind of negative replies that I used to give to my friends.
I took with a term life insurance and my friends said that I was wasting money, but as time passed by, I kept paying my premiums and we were all married and settled in life. My friend who had a negative feeling of taking a life insurance all of a sudden fell sick. He was not getting well and finally doctor prescribed to do some tests. After the tests he was diagnosed with blood cancer. He was hospitalized for the treatment and that treatment took many months, but with no results. In the process of the treatment, his family had to take lots of credit from the market, including of a mortgage on his home. But all went to drain and my friend finally succumbed to the disease. Before dying he tried to go for a Term life insurance, but no company was taking the risk. Now after his death the family of my friend is suffering from the consequences of my friend’s decision. Because of the illness and consequently the debts that have been taken for the treatment, my friend’s family is facing the hardship of the life. They are not able to repay the loan that they had taken and are now on the verge of losing the house. Although the other things would be forgotten, but losing a house is a big thing and is really difficult to take a new one.
If only my friend had listened to me and had gone for one life insurance, that would have certainly helped my friend’s family. A life insurance policy is designed in such a way that it helps the family of the person insured rather then the actual person. And if you care about your family then you should always take some measures to protect them in times when you won’t be available for them. Life is unpredictable and you cannot take chances and put your family into jeopardy. It is always better to take measures which can prepare you for your future and help you whenever the time comes. After all no one is immune to anything that may happen accidentally or by age. All you have to pay is a small price for huge benefits and it always pays you back with a peace of mind. |
