Manchester has a population of 452 000 and has been considered a city since 1853. in a poll of british business leaders in 2006, the city was voted as the best place in england to situate a business. as well as this, Manchester was the host of the commonwealth games in 2002, and has several other connections to sport, containing the city being home to man united.
