Getting The Cleaning Supplies Stock Right

By : Anna Stenning    4 or more times read

I have been told in the past that you can never have enough cleaning supplies, because eventually (depending on how clean you are) it will be used up and you will need extra stock to keep you tied over for the month or two months. However, having recently moved to a new flat I find myself laden with cleaning products from my previous residence and am now wondering whether I really do have too many supplies.

When stocking up on your cleaning supplies you will find that, you will not be using all of them at once and will have some older cleaning products in your possessions for a long time. These cleaning products will only take up space and if you are being honest with yourself how likely is it that you will be using all of the products? This is an important issue that many people take for granted and may even think it is normal to have an abundance of supplies.

What you are actually doing is keeping a stock of products that will eventually degrade in performance. In other words if you finally go to use it, it may not be as affective is you would want it to be in terms of getting the cleaning done. It is a good thing to keep a wide supply of products but it will save you more money if you buy a limited number of supplies so as not to go too over the top with your stocking up.

When clearing out my kitchen and bathroom cupboards, I came across a few polishes and sprays that I had forgotten I had. In the end, I cleared out a large bin bag filled with old and unused cleaning supplies, which made me feel like perhaps I should have been more careful with my spending. Cleaning products can be expensive to purchase, often we forget how much we actually spend on some of the more essential things.

It is always a good idea to have a look at how much stock you have left before you go out to shop for household supplies. Make sure that you use every drop of your sprays and polishes, as the whole point in this exercise is to reduce the temptations of buying an unnecessary amount of stock. It is very easy to fall into the trap of buying far too much and forgetting that you have an endless supply of cleaning equipment.

It is a good idea to start organising your supplies into stock only and immediate use, as then you will not make the mistake in use the extra stock with the opened product. Furthermore, keep all of your equipment separate and never keep cloths that are more than two weeks old. Remember these hold dirt into the fibre, so all the pathogens and bacteria will fester within - always discard them and never reuse them.

If you feel that perhaps you will need an endless list of cleaning supplies, think about what products you use the most and what ones you will be using a limited number of times. The ones you are going to use a lot will be the ones you should stick to stocking up, and the ones you use less often, you just stick to the one product. This will last you a long time but you will be using them more efficiently and saving yourself some money.

    • Clocks and time have fascinated man since time began. First of all man worshiped the sun gods and life was governed by light and dark, day and night and from there life has been dictated by the rise and fall of the sun and the need to ensure we know exactly how much time we have left in the day before it is time to sleep and from there we need to know exactly what the time is so we can rise in the morning to make the most of the daylight once more. When man had mastered how to measure time he then moved on to created time pieces that could help us live our lives more accurately by time, at this point man moved on to making clocks from the home. From here people started to manufacture ever more elaborate time pieces as well as time pieces that would make people stop and admire then. This is a natural progression in anything that we create but at the time when clocks were still in their infancy these pieces were creating quite a stir.
