In the wake of Tiger Woods temporary retirement, I wanted to address this issue. Men like this are funny to me. They seem to view women as objects and prove so with continuous philandering. Whether or not Mr. Woods is truly sorry, I don t know. Do I think he is? Not in a million. Had he repented without warrant, I may have felt differently. But nah, he just got caught. This seems to be the tone with cheaters. They re not sorry for their actions, their just sorry they were caught. Anyone who has been in this situation knows exactly what I m talking about. This type of behavior only changes because the person wants it to change, not because they were suddenly found out. A cheating spouse will have their cake, eat it and everything else too as long as it s tolerated. Additionally they have no regard for others involved. Cheating spouses refuse to see that not only are they hurting their mate, their hurting their entire family. The damage caused by cheating takes a whole lot more than soap and water to clean up here s why: (1) Cheaters with families don t realize how immoral behavior affects those around them. If affects both sides of the family, friends, the children and more in more ways than they ll ever know. The embarrassment, distrust (you re wondering if any of the family and friends were in on it), hurt, anger, and resentment caused by cheating creates a huge unnecessary cloud of shame. It can really break up a solid family unit. (2) Cheating creates needless feelings of insecurity, low self esteem, depression, which can lead to negative physical and mental distress, violence and I m not just talking about the mate cheated on. Children in the midst of this can endure long term effects all because of the selfishness involved. I wouldn t want any child growing up thinking it s the norm. This could create generations of immoral behavior and it s already bad enough out here. (3) People do what they can get away with. That seems to be the motto of our world today. Many don t care who, what, and how their actions impact. If they did, more than half of the infidelities that can be easily walked away from wouldn t happen. (4) A cheating spouse does not consider the health aspects of cheating. There are too many diseases floating around these days to take the kinds of risk spouses are taking. Not only can you transfer something to your mate, but do you want to kiss your kids with those same lips that have been other places? Yuk. Like I said, cheating involves more than you think! Don t get me wrong, I understand that there will always be temptation around every door whether you re looking for it or not. And some temptations look too good to pass up. When faced with temptation, simply ask yourself, Would I want this to be done to me? No you wouldn t. I don t know anyone who enjoys being hurt. Understand that I am no where near perfect and I, just like everyone else, have flaws. I m a work in progress and my salvation in Christ Jesus is my foundation that I d truly be a mess without. I put my effort towards treating others like I would want to be treated. and have come to the realization that life is too short. Also, I m getting to old to reap what I sow, so I ll just take my chances trying to live right. By adapting the same, you ll save yourself a headache or two in the end.
