We listened to their sales pitch with our mind already made up and looking for a way to say no and the best way to get out of the meeting as quickly and painlessly as possible without destroying our friendship. <br /> <br /> Throughout the sales pitch, we thought to ourselves, what would drive someone to put this much effort into selling these products that nobody wants? Why would they spend all this time and money promoting their product to their friends and relatives who feel uncomfortable and making them feel like they have to buy something? Would we ever be able to meet them again and look them in the face wondering if they were going to sneak in their sales pitch somewhere in the conversation? <br /> <br /> This kind of Network Marketing or Direct Sales seemed rather painful to someone from the outside, thinking all these companies are a scam. Not only was it time consuming, but you needed to be a person with the ability to sell and buy lots of products to stock up on to stay in the business. Most believe you had to start out as professional sales people, but they would need to learn even more skills in order to succeed. <br /> <br /> What our friends understood about Network Marketing is that the first customers are always the hardest. Once your customers start recruiting their own customers' things start getting easier. Over time, their income would grow faster. They learned that because they were sold on the product they were selling and definitely on the concept of Network Marketing their passion was contagious. They were persistent and determined not to quit because they truly believed in their product! Once their customers tried their products and became believers, they too began to tell others.<br /> You are already in the network marketing business. Did you realize that? Every time you refer someone to a restaurant, a movie, your accountant or your favorite anything, you send them there with confidence because they trust you. Did you get paid for that? NO! Now you understand a little bit more about this industry.<br /> <br /> I could not help but think - could they really be on to something? Is this Network Marketing concept real? It seemed impossible, but what if it worked and real people actually do make real money? I found that real people did eventually become successful. But I believe it was because they were determined to make it work. Giving up was not an option for them. I realized that if you are determined to be successful, that was 90% of formula. <br /> <br /> Times have changed and Network Marketing has turned into on-line Network Marketing. The internet has caused an explosion of products and companies offering their well know established brands using this channel of distribution. The big box stores or brick and mortar as they are known, realize that selling direct with word of mouth associates works. The concept remains the same: <br /> <br /> 1) Sell someone else's products and make a commission on each product you sell. <br /> <br /> 2) Sell the opportunity to others so they do the same, while making a commission on their sales as well. <br /> <br /> The Down-Line Sales or building your team is what makes Network Marketing most rewarding and leads to "RESIDUAL INCOME". This kind of income keeps coming without you yourself having to do the work or duplicating your efforts on a large scale is the key to Network Marketing. <br /> <br /> Today, online Network Marketing has greatly simplified selling other companies' products using this word of mouth testimonial referral. Not only do they generally do the selling for you, but THE WORLD IS NOW YOUR PROSPECT and you reach out to people you would never be able to!<br /> One very important point here…Product is everything! If you know lots of people already selling your favorite cosmetics, plastic bowels, supplements, etc, you better research this industry and find the best product with a real history and a diversified catalog. Don't limit your opportunity with a single category of product. Be wary of new start up companies with magic potions!<br /> <br /> Another key is your Up-Line Manager. This is the most important ingredient to your success! If the person directly above you can not help you, is not willing to help you or just is out there signing up people thinking that is all they have to do to succeed, you will fail. I call these people, Accidental Managers". They have moved up the company's ladder by just adding lots of people. Find a manager who is willing to help you succeed. This will make all the difference in the world. Not all managers are created equal! Call them, talk to them…if you can.<br /> One thing most successful Network Marketing people will tell you, they tried several products before they found an honest, successful company. They didn't give up because of a bad product/company, but save yourself the learning curve and do your homework.<br /> After all this, once you become a Network Marketer all you need is a computer, internet connection and a good product with opportunity that can be sold. POINT AND CLICK IS THE METHOD OF SALES TODAY! Good companies offering affiliate programs for Network Marketing and provide many ways to learn the ropes and how to sell their products. Anyone can learn how to do it if you have the right company! Support is also another key factor. Some companies sign up every Tom, Dick and Harry and hand them a catalog and say, "good luck".<br /> <br /> If Online Marketing is so easy, why isn't everyone doing it? It takes time and persistence like any company or business you start. This is the hardest part. Our friends understood this and they were determined to succeed and persevere. You must invest in any business you start. Time is the biggest invest you will make. The beauty of Network Marketing is that most good companies offer a minimal financial staring point or buy in.
