Not all toppers are made from this material, however. Consider what they are made of before you buy. Those that are simple padding may not provide you with a support you need. Some products, such as those that are filled with goose down filling, are going to be very soft and will lack any specific support to your back or body.

Also important in the construction of a foam mattress topper is the thickness. If you imagine this mattress topper on top of your current mattress, imagine lying on top of it. The only way to prevent the underlying mattress coils or material from coming through is to ensure that the topper is thick enough. However, you do have to take into consideration the condition of your current mattress and bed before choosing a mattress pad like this. If the mattress is difficult to sleep on or there are exposed coils, broken frame parts of other significant damage, it is unlikely that any mattress pad will provide enough protection.
